I need to know how some of you working women out there do it. How do you work all day, and then come home and deal with the home stuff. The laundry, the mess, the meals. I am feeling a little overwhelmed by life right now. I have so much to do and no time to do it. I can't even look forward to the holidays right now because I only feel like it's adding more to my To Do list.

How do you do it? How do you stay organized? Stay focused? Keep up with your kids, your laundry, your house . . . your life??

When I was working outside of my house during the day the only way I stayed sane was to give everyone jobs. Your kids are old enough to help you out so your house doesn't look like it exploded. Some things you just have to let go, or you'll also lose your health. You need to start expecting a lot more from your husband and kids around the house so you are just one of 5 (?) people taking care of your home - instead of the only 1 of 5. Oh, and a LOT of freakin' lists!!!!

When we were kids my mom actually went on strike for 3 weeks, during which time my dad, my brother and myself had to do all our own laundry, cook our own food, and clean up. It was insanity - but it worked.

Anyway, I feel for you - I don't know how you do it. I certainly couldn't for very long. Now I work at home in any spare time I can scrape together, but at least I'm physically here and have a flexible schedule.

Oh lord. I wish I could offer you some kind of advice, but I don't even *have* kids and I feel like I can't get it all done. then maybe? Yes, yes vodka it is.

Delegate jobs, as your friend suggested. It's the ONLY way.

That, and spring for a maid. Seriously. Even if they come once a month. It's amazing how much they help and how much easier it is to just "maintain".

I ask myself that same question every SINGLE time I meet a working mom. If I can't keep up, how do YOU?!?!?! (oh wait, you don't - hence the plea for help)

I ditto the maid thing. I have a great company...your house would probably be $90-100 and they do blinds, fans, baseboards, change the sheets...but they don't do laundry. I even caught them wiping the fronts of my kitchen cabinets once. (*sigh*) I miss them. Dearly. Call me for their #.

And if that doesn't work, try the vodka suggestion.

I'm with fattylumpa, vodka. And with Stacey, delegate. However I try to do this with F, delegate, and it isn't working all that well, so, more vodka?

Starbucks, lots and lots of Starbucks.

And chores...everyone in our household has daily chores...and if they don't do them, or I have to remind them, they pay me. Seriously, $5 a pop if they miss something...believe me, they don't miss much.

My husband always reminds me that decreased expectations equals increased happiness. It is so very true. Try your best, but what's the worst that could happen if it just doesn't all get done?

And, the thing the keeps our laundry situation under control: if it isn't stinky or stained, hang it back up and wear it again.
